Read a tachograph driver card .ddd file online

Reads a digital tachograph driver card download and shows the card holder, card details, working time, driving-time compliance and recorded events. Everything is parsed locally in your browser - the file never leaves your device.

What is a .ddd file?

A .ddd file is the download taken from a digital tachograph - either from a driver card or from a vehicle unit. Inside it is a binary sequence of TLV blocks holding the card's identification, the activities recorded for each day, the vehicles used, the events and faults, and a digital signature over every block. The structure is defined in Annex 1B of Reg. (EEC) 3821/85 for Generation 1 cards and in Annex 1C of Reg. (EU) 2016/799 for Generation 2 (Smart Tachograph) cards.

What it reads

Card holder surname, first names, birth date and preferred language
Driving licence - number, issuing authority and country
Card number, issuing member state and authority
Issue, validity-begin and expiry dates
Card type (driver / workshop / control / company) and generation
Card usage - last download date, the vehicle currently inserted, and the last control
Vehicles used - each vehicle's registration, first / last use, odometer and distance, with odometer-continuity integrity checks
Per-day working time - driving, other work, availability, rest and unknown (card-not-inserted) time
A detailed activity timeline - every recorded activity change with its date, vehicle, start, end, duration and type
Events and faults - over speeding, power interruptions, driving without a card, sensor / equipment faults, each with an indicative EU severity band (Reg. (EU) 2016/403)
Card validity - status (valid / expiring / expired) and any activity recorded after the card's expiry
Compliance - Reg. (EC) 561/2006 driving/rest checks (daily driving, breaks, the 24 h daily-rest window, daily / weekly rest) as violations or notices, plus Reg. (EU) 165/2014 Art. 34 record-keeping infringements (card-out time not manually entered, missing start/end country entries)
Specific conditions - out-of-scope periods and ferry/train crossings (excluded from the driving/rest checks)

How to get the .ddd file from a driver card

Insert the card in a vehicle unit and use the tachograph's download function, or read the card directly with a smart card reader connected to a computer.
The download tool writes one file per card, usually named after the card number and the download date, with a .ddd extension.
Drop that file on this page. It is parsed in this browser tab, so nothing is sent anywhere and no account is needed.

Reading a driver card needs no authentication - a company card and mutual authentication are required only for a download taken from the vehicle unit itself.

Questions

Is the file uploaded anywhere?

No. The parser is JavaScript running in this tab, so the contents of the .ddd never leave your device - there is no server-side analysis and no copy is kept.

Is it free?

Yes, with no account, no file-size limit and no paid tier.

Does it work offline?

Yes, after the first visit. A service worker keeps the application itself cached, so the analyzer still opens and still reads files with no network connection.

Which card generations are supported?

Generation 1 (Annex 1B) and Generation 2 / Smart Tachograph (Annex 1C), including the second version of the Generation 2 data structures. When a card carries records in both generations they are merged by record identity, so a day present in both is counted once.

Can it read a vehicle unit download?

Not yet. A vehicle unit download uses a different structure; such a file is recognised and reported as a VU download, but it is not decoded.

Are the compliance results legally binding?

No, they are indicative. The checks follow Reg. (EC) 561/2006, Art. 34 of Reg. (EU) 165/2014 and the Polish working-time act, and the severity bands follow Reg. (EU) 2016/403, but time with the card out is treated as rest - a real inspection may read the same file differently.

Are the digital signatures verified?

No. The signature blocks are listed with their generation and length, but no certificate chain is checked, so the analyzer cannot tell you whether a file was tampered with.
